I can only begin to tell you about my photography by saying, I am so thankful for this gift God has allowed me to love and enjoy. If it weren't for his grace and a "pushy" husband I would not have pursued this artistic medium.
I had always taken pictures (lots of them) but just for myself, family and friends. About 10 years ago my husband, Tim gave me the push "I want you to buy yourself a 'good' camera. Try to make enough money to pay its' cost and then just quit if you don't like it. But somehow he knew. I loved it!
I have to say I have been around the world so to speak in the creative avenues. Graduating from the U of A with a fine arts degree in Painting and Drawing, my first job was as a layout artist for the Arkansas Democrat. Our shared office space was in a not-so glamorous backroom with pipes in the ceiling (this was before they were considered hip). Taller people had to duck a little to come inside the door.
Later, the opportunity came to move into the Ad Agency world. I had the privilege of working with some of the best commercial photographers around the country, I was able to learn a lot from them as a designer. I was the one who bought the photos and hired the photographers, I wasn't THE photographer. I never considered myself the photographer-techno type. I was the one standing over their shoulder saying, "no a little more this way or that", and I'm sure they loved this question, "Can I look through the lens, please?". Most were great creatives who wanted the best end-product possible. But, I probably drove a few crazy-with my control-freakish nature.
Once our first born came, it was time to be a full time mom-the greatest privilege of my life. Leaving the fast-paced career world has held no regrets. Since that time, I have been able to maintain a home business as both a graphic designer and portrait photographer. In the last few years, the shift has become a photography passion.
So, in a nutshell this is me—Daughter of the King, Wife to Tim, Mom to Cade, Attaleigh and Chloe, and Portrait Photographer for you who will give me the privilege.
